I played Sega Genesis growing up. A variety of games, usually sports related. But I did play a rather addictive game called “Sonic the Hedgehog.”
Easy to like. Creature from another planet hops around the universe getting into adventure whilst learning about himself and what he can do. A movie probably wouldn’t work, but much to my surprise, the cinematic version was an enjoyable flick. Decades after the game made a huge splash in the gaming community, the film boosts Jim Carrey in one of his best roles in years, kicking it 90’s old school as a master villain.
Outside of that kids film, “The Photograph” has another keen performance from LaKeith Stanfield along with a creative turn from Issa Rae as a pair of lovers who are battling a past that won’t let their future rest too easy. It took chances with a confusing screenplay, but the acting-and laughs from Lil Rey Howery-lifted it up.
Both of those were reviewed in a rather entertaining and eventful segment on the Large Morning Show in the Afternoon with Frank O. Pinion.
Inside the movie reviews, Frank and I offered our vastly different reasons for abandoning “Schitt’s Creek,” a PopTV television show currently on Netflix.
