The Frank O. Pinion Radio Movie Dose: ‘Judy’ review

There are days on the radio where the start of a segment can go in a different direction than previously planned. That happened on Oct. 1 where I had a new Renee Zellweger movie to review, but I ended up talking about a movie I just screened just a few hours before.

That was “Joker” and before I could review Zellweger playing Judy Garland in “Judy,” I spoke about Todd Phillips’ new film.

Tim Woodburn also revealed a new item for sale from the St. Louis Blues, and the cult favorite Cinemax series, “Banshee,” was mentioned once again. Frankly, due to how great it is, the action drama series should be brought up every week.

As far as “Judy” is concerned, I marveled at Zellweger’s performance, but not much else in the film caught my attention in a positive way. It was like watching a great athlete have a 4-4 game on the field while the rest of the team just hit the snooze button.

I’d recommend it for home viewing unless you are a Garland fanatic.

Here’s the full segment.
