The Frank O. Pinion Radio Movie Dose: Reviewing ‘John Wick: Chapter 3-Parabellum’

This week on the Large Morning Show in the Afternoon, I discussed the latest chapter in the “John Wick” movie franchise with Frank O. Pinion and company.

“Parabellum” picks up right after the end of “Chapter 2,” finding Wick on the run from pretty much every hitman in the world. Once he is deemed “ex-communicado” from the Continental Hotel, Wick has to find different ways to stay alive, all with his trusted pit bull, aptly named “dog,” by his side.

The films work due to the sheer authenticity constructed by director Chad Stahelski and carried out by the cast, including the maverick himself, Keanu Reeves. Along with franchise newcomer Halle Berry, Reeves does the majority of his own stunts and finds new ways to make a martial arts move seem deadly and invigorating.

It’s comic book violence, but the dedication to structure, running out of ammo and taking a beating, is what makes the Wick movies truly sing. It’s never one-sided or pure luck.

I also went over the latest DVD and Blu Ray offerings, as well as a look at television.
