The Frank O. Pinion Movie Dose, March 19: ‘Captive State’ review, James Gunn discussion

This week on the Large Morning Show in the afternoon, I engaged Frank O. Pinion and company in an hour long discussion that included the following:

*A review of Captive State, the new John Goodman-starring alien invasion thriller from Rupert Wyatt. What could have a fresh take on the genre turned into an average snooze fest.

*Discussion of Disney rehiring James Gunn to direct Guardians of The Galaxy 3, and if he should have been fired in the first place.

*A quick hit on Showtime’s Billions, which returned on Sunday night. Frank tells you why he doesn’t watch it. For me, one hour weekly isn’t enough.

*Redbox has a few gems at the moment, including the Oscar-winning Green Book.

*I previewed next week’s new releases, such as Jordan Peele’s Us and Gloria Bell, with Julianne Moore.

Frank took some calls, and the usual hilarity ensued, including an impersonation of Charlton Heston.
